I’m writing this post today as Childline is a really worthy cause which is in need of help this Christmas. Childline doesn’t have the funds to keep the night services open this winter, and unless they raise them by January the phone lines will have to close for a few hours every night. It doesn’t seem like much to us, but during this time they take 45,000 calls. To the people calling during this time, a few hours may be vital.
So what can us commoners do to help? There’s a fundraiser being organised this Monday, 15h January called #mobilemonday, where teenagers accross Ireland are being urged to forgo their phones for the day and make a €4 donation to Childline by texting “Childline” to 57911. People taking part are also urged to share on Facebook, tag and nominate their friends and spread the word.
This is a simple thing to do, but every person who takes part will make a small difference in causing a big change. Anyone can take part, so please support Childline in this time of need and tell your friends and family to take part as well. Spread the word by using the hashtags #silenceisdeadly and #mobilemonday.
If you have means to share this information, such as a blog/youtube channel, I urge you to share this information. If you don’t, please share this post, or even tweet about it!
