Last Saturday I had the privilege of attending the #Corkblogmeet15, organised by the lovely Zoë from zoewithumlauts.com. It was such an enjoyable day, we were absolutely spoiled and I got to meet so many new people who were so nice! I’m so happy to have taken part, I’m definitely hoping to attend more in the future.
The day kicked off when we met inside the door of Debenhams, before being taken to a room set up especially for us. To be honest I was incredibly nervous at this stage, meeting so many new people at once, but I quickly got talking to people and adjusted to the situation, which became incredibly enjoyable. The room they took us to in Debenhams was set out with goodie bags for us, a delicious brunch, and a display of some of their top perfumes. We were quickly seated, before being talked to about some Spring Trends, the personal shopper service and newly released perfumes. It was so interesting to learn about how the perfumes are made and the story behind each bottle – I never realised that so much thought was put into perfume! After this we were generously given €50 vouchers, to be spent on cosmetics that day, and taken to the shop floor.
On the shop floor we were split into three groups and taken to three cosmetic “houses” – Clarins, Elizabeth Arden and my favourite, Urban Decay. The group I was in was taken first to Clarins, where we were told about their face oil – something I’ve definitely got my eye on now! We were then taken to Urban Decay, where we were shown their sheer lipsticks in so many gorgeous shades, as well as their face powder and Naked Skin Concealer. The girls were so nice and answered any questions we had before giving us each an eyeliner and eyeshadow. I got “Midnight Cowgirl” eyeshadow, and “Perversion” eyeliner, and they’ll definitely feature in future posts. We then continued on to Elizabeth Arden, where they told us about their Matte Foundation and tested each of us for the right shade. They also gave us a sample of the foundation, as well as a Matte makeover voucher. I can’t wait to use it! After that we had about 10 minutes to choose what to spend our vouchers on – quite stressful because there were so many pretty things! I chose a Dior Addict Lipstick and it’s absolutely beautiful, as well as a Royal Effem Mascara from Artdeco, which I can’t wait to try.
At 1.30 we met again in the PR room, where a few spot prizes were pulled. Unfortunately I didn’t win any! The people of Debenhams were so nice and generous, they absolutely spoiled us and made it a truly enjoyable experience.
Next we were taken to The Body Shop. The staff were lovely to us, but there seemed to have been a few miscommunications! They only had a few goody bags ready, and we were left standing around for the best part of an hour. I made the most of the time and got a good few samples, as well as buying their (magic) BB Cream and Poppy Body Butter. After a while we were given a demo, which was good to watch. It was a vibrant spring look, done with bright orange and yellow. and I may try it out in the future! While this was a strange experience, it was nonetheless enjoyable.
When we were finished in The Body Shop we continued on to SUAS cocktail bar, where we were treated to some lovely demos. When we arrived we were given amazing goodie bags by Zoe (post to come later) and settled down for some chats before the demos began. Many people ordered food and cocktails here, and we relaxed for a while when the Ingot people were setting up. The first demo we had was by Ingot – the woman was so nice, and had gorgeous make up! She did a fresh spring look on Mei Ling, from darlingbudsofmei, which was gorgeous. I’ve definitely got my eye on their orange eyeshadow now.
The next demo was from MeMeMe, who used Melissa from Lipstick and Louboutins Blog as her model. This was another gorgeous look, and they kindly let us have a closer look at the products after. Some were new concepts to me, which I can’t wait to learn more about and maybe even try out at some stage. They also brought goodie bags for us, which I was delighted to see had a beautiful nail polish in it – I can’t wait to try it.
The last demo was by Isa Dora, and was done by one of the girls from Debenhams. They showed us some gorgeous products, as well as giving us a goodie back as well. The goodie bag contained a Nude Sensation Foundation which I can’t wait to try, as well as Colour Correcting Concealer which I’ve had my eye on for ages, among many others. All in all an incredibly rewarding, successful day!
