In the past I’ve been quite privileged regarding holidays and places I’ve got to go, and I’m very grateful for that. I love going to different places and discovering new experiences, and I hope in the future to go many more, starting this summer after I finally finish the big ‘ol Leaving Cert. I’ve decided to do a post on places that I hope visit in the future.
I’ve always loved the idea of visiting Italy – I love the language and it seems like such a beautiful country. I’d like to go to Rome specifically, but obviously I’d love to go to all the others as well! I always like to see the cultures and histories of new places, and Rome is absolutely immersed in it, which puts it high up on my “places to go list.”
Although I’ve been to a good few places in Europe, I’ve never been to any other continent. This is one that I’ll be crossing off my list this Summer – I’m visiting the Yukon for three weeks with my Granny and my sister and I can’t wait! I’ve wanted to go there because there are so many amazing natural wonders, as well as man made attractions. I’m really looking forward to seeing another continent!
New York, America
Although I’m not sure this is somewhere I’d like to live, I’ve always wanted to see New York for many reasons – the shopping, the culture, the fast-paced city life. It’s a completely different way of life to everything I’ve experienced, and I’d love to see what it’s like. Barcelona
There are so many things in Sydney I’d like to see – the amazing beaches, sights such as the Sydney Opera House, Sydney Harbour Bridge and other cultural attractions. It’s always seemed like such an interesting place to me and I definitely hope to see it in person some day.
I’ve never been to Germany before, but I definitely plan to go at some point. The city of Cologne looks so beautiful – there seems to be an amazing atmosphere. One of the attractions that it holds is the culture, as well as all of the historical buildings and gothic landmarks. I’d definitely jump at a chance to see this city.
I’ve been to London a few times already, but I always get something different out of it and there’s so many things there that I haven’t yet had the chance to do. It holds so much, and I love discovering new things to do there every time I go. It’s so different to Cork, but I love experiencing the contrast every time I visit London and I hope to go many times more in the future.
I think the attraction of this one is obvious – who wouldn’t want to visit a city built on water? Venice is so beautiful in every picture, I can only imagine what it’s like in person. This is another one that is definitely on my list of future places to visit!
I’ve always found Japanese culture so interesting, and I hope to experience it in person some day. It would definitely take some getting used to, but it seems so fascinating and there’s so much to see there. I have a minuscule bit of Japanese from fourth year, but I really like it as a language and I’m planning to learn more next year when I have more time. I also strongly believe that if you’re learning a language you should experience it being spoken in its own country, which adds to my reasons for wanting to visit Japan.
These are some of the many cities I would like to visit in the future – there are so many more, but these are the ones at the top of the list. I hope to get to experience these places in time to come, as well as many others.
What are your favourite places you’ve visited? Where do you hope to go in the future?
