Last week I had the pleasure of attending an art launch in the UCC Glucksman gallery, and I think the best word to describe it was very interesting.
We arrived at about six, and at this stage i definitely didn’t know what to expect. Upon entering the Glucksman building, we were welcomed and offered drinks before proceeding to the first of the displays.
All of the displays incorporated animals in some way or another – some in more unique ways. I was particularly drawn to a photography display which involved close up shots of a bird in black and white, I thought it was quite an effective visual.
I was quite startled to see a stuffed canaries on the floor the whole way around the room as part of a display. I’m not judging in any way but I just felt like that was a bit too out there for my tastes.
Another interesting part of the night was when my sister and I were approached by a woman promoting bags and asked to have our picture taken with their bags for the newspaper. The bags were unusual, in that they had a 2D satchel effect when they were 3D, but quite nice.
After taking a trip around to the rest of the exhibits (some pictured below) we decided to call it a day. We finished the night with a trip to Coqbull, which was absolutely divine! I had a “forest bull” burger, which was basically a burger with a giant stuffed mushroom in the middle, and it was so nice.
That was my night at the Glucksman Gallery! I’m off to France tomorrow, so hopefully I’ll be ably to schedule posts to automatically upload when I’m away. I’m also considering doing a miniseries about France when I get back, if I have good material for posts,
