Earlier this month I was delighted to receive an invitation to this season’s Warehouse Press Preview, so last week I took a trip up to Dublin to attend what was overall a very enjoyable event. I got the chance to have a good look at what gorgeous pieces will be stocked in Warehouse stores this season!
The first thing that jumped out at me was that the seventies are back with a bang. Think big coats, colours in the light brown to dark orange range and strong textures and you’re on the right track. This season’s pieces draw inspiration from the seventies musical icons including Stevie Nicks, Debby Harry (Blondie), Janis Joplin and many more divas of the time. This collection, therefore has a very strong seventies-esque attitude resulting from the influence of these stars.
A trend which is extremely prominent this season is the loud, vibrant print. Aztec, florals and striped prints have taken a wintery turn by transitioning into darker colours such as deep reds, blues, various shades of brown and beige colours. These prints are perfect for wearing with a block colour look – for instance, pairing a loud print poncho – style cardigan with a black skirt and high necked, long sleeved burgundy top is a look I’d definitely wear!
That brings me onto probably my favourite thing about this season’s collection – the colour burgundy. This is my favourite colour for autumn – winter clothing so I’ve been delighted this season to see it everywhere! Burgundy is a perfect Autumn colour, and it’s so wearable with any complexion. I saw many stand out pieces in burgundy at the Warehouse event, including a lovely polo necked jumper, and a two toned textured clutch bag – definitely both wardrobe essentials for me this season!
Another prevalent feature is black. What’s so different about this season’s black, you ask? All of the pieces in black which caught my eye were almost transparent with gorgeous designs, such as detailed floral embroidered designs, sequins or beaded additions. The classic high waisted black leather skirt is also back this season, with the addition of vertical zips as a stand out feature. I’d pair a black leather skirt with a floaty burgundy top and chunky silver heels for an edgy seventies vibe.
This post would not be complete without a mention of the accessories of the collection. Brown satchel – like bags, grey crocodile printed bags, and burgundy velvet bags make the perfect finishing touches to any outfit. The seventies floppy hat also made a few appearances in various shades. My personal favourite, however, was the shoes – ankle boots are as prominent as ever and I love it! Leopard print, velvet finish, “plastic” finish – it’s all there and so gorgeous. And finally, I’m obsessed with a pair of silver platform heels which add the perfect finish to any seventies-esque nighttime look.
After looking at the collection we were then provided with some lovely brunch treats from Mooch, which were divine, as well as teas and coffees. Overall it was a very enjoyable event, and I’m now very excited to do some autumn winter shopping!
